Aaron's Ireland Journal

July 15, 1999

Sometimes things go well. Sometimes things go bad. Last night, something went bad.

I've often heard it said that when something goes bad in the Lord's work, that when persecution comes, that when a lion is in your path, blocking your way from serving Christ, it means that God has a good work for you and that Satan is just trying to push you from your course.

I now urge you, o faithful reader, to pray and pray hard for the teams here in Ireland, for something great is coming of their work. How do I know? Because Satan reared his ugly filth-swollen head last night in a way that should never have happened.

I wasn't there. I didn't see it. Only three people were involved, but it has an impact on us all. While three of the team members were at the beach, presumably trying to bond together closer, one of the was possessed. I don't mean little kiddie stuff ha ha funny - I mean possessed. I mean one of the boys hang was nearly frostbit by touching the possessed man. I mean the possessed man jumping down a 15ft if not higher sanddune - and then being able to take that almost straight drop off and jump right back up it in two jumps that were not humanly possible - only to land directly in front of where the two onlookers were standing. I mean chanting and speaking in demonic toungues. I mean possessed.

I have not had the oppertunity yet to speak with the boy who was possessed. I don't think the leaders want us to really bother him. But I have, obviously, spoken with the two people who watched him. They're, and we, are praying that this whole event will make them stronger. As proof of God's ever-present protection for His people, the very second the boy who was possessed stepped back on the grounds that Project Evangelism owns, he fell down and snapped out of it, and I believe has been sleeping since.

This is what real faith is about. This is what happens when you get close to a breakthrough - Satan tries to bring you down. But Satan has lost - he played his cards too soon and we saw through his poker face. By this event, our faith can and will only become stronger.

And so, I urge you to continue praying for this group as a whole, along with the two witnesses and the boy who was possessed. It is quite and ordeal that they have had to face, but God has kept them together. Something mighty is happening over here - pray that we keep our focus on it and the work that God is doing - and not the work that Satan is doing.
